update and info

So sorry for the delay. I have been so busy with my dad and the benefit that I have not updated as much as I should.

News: the beneift is over and we had a great turn out for it, We raised our goal amount and donations are still coming in. Again if anyone would like updates on how my dad is doing please visit GilKeene.blog spot.com for updates. I hope that my mom is doing updates I have not checked lately. My dad is doing great. He is walking with help and every once in a while he will say a word or two. He says Dorrine all the time. My mom and dad are still staying with Don and I until the wheel chair ramp can be built. The snow is almost melted so mom is working on that.

The delay in info posted is due to The benefit and dad and work.....Only 24 hours in a day and I really could use 28 hours. Now that the benefit is over that is one less thing that I have to worry about. Now my schedule is a little less. During the day I take care of dad and then work in the afternoon. Before I worked on the benefit stuff after work till bed, but now I can use that time to catch up on adoption stuff and spend time with Don.

The adoption wait is very close to a referral . They have given out babies through March 6th 2006 and we are logged in March 22, 2006. Minus the weekends and that is only 13 log in dates before ours.

If you are not informed on how the log in dates work please refer to the right hand side of the blog on info.

At the benefit (I / We ) bought a dresser that someone donated that was used. Actually Don went to the bathroom and he came out and wow we bought a dresser. As many of you know I am on a spending freeze for Makayla. So now I have this dresser that I am going to paint pink with green and blue polka dots to match her room. If you would like to see pictures of her room please scroll down this page or on the right hand side of the blog is a link to Makaylas room. Don says that the dresser is going to be to big for her room and the pink will be to much, but I think with the attached mirror that it will make the room look bigger, and if it does not turn out that I can just put the first dresser back in.

Back to the spending freeze Don has set me on. I keep telling Don and I have to get stuff like Diaper Rash cream in the states vs China, this is due to I can not read Chinese. I think it is diaper cream and we buy it in China and it is actually baby shampoo!!!!! Right!!!!!

So this leads me to a new pole. Should Dorrine be on a spending spree this close to a referral?????PLease vote!!!!

october referrals are in

Octobers referrals are in and CCAA (china affairs) has given out children who is logged in up to Feb 15, 2006.

My referrals have been right on with my good case predictions. If it stays right on in the good case, then we are looking at April 2009 for a referral and Middle of may 2009 for a travel date. We are only 34 days of log in dates before it is our turn. WOOHOOO!!!!!!

What does referrals mean?
Referrals are given out once a month from China (CCAA china affairs) When your paperwork is sent over to China they go through your paperwork and log in into a computer and check for updates if needed. Once you are logged in CCAA gives you a log in date ours is March 22, 2006. Everyone that has a log in date before us gets a referral before us. Once you are logged in CCAA then sends your paperwork over to a different room where they go into detail into your paperwork, they sometimes ask for more information or deny couples for certain reasons. This is called an audit. Once you have been audited they send your paperwork to the matching room to sit til it is your turn to get a referral. We got notified Feb 3, 2007 that we were audited and everything was approved. Now we sit til it is our turn for a referral.
Once it is our turn for a referral we will receive a package that includes pictures of our child with information on background, size, approx date of birth, medical evaluations ect. We have approx 24 hours after receiving a referral to accept the child or not. If not then we go back into the waiting pool for approx. 3 months. If you have any questions about why it is taking so long please read updates on main page in posts " why is it taking so long to get Makayla" or "Referrals and what they mean"

Update on maykayla's room

Ok, I wanted to share with you all, updates on Makayla's room. I have bought but not installed her knobs for her dresser. They are blocks with letters on them, and they are the same colors as her room in decorated in. I also have matching light switches and hangers for her coats, which I still have not put up. This is the reason why Don has put me on a spending hold. LOL

I know she needs a toy box, but where I will put it is unknown at this point. below is pictures of makalya's room when I first posted on January 7, 2007.

Makayla's Bedroom

This was Makayla's room over a 1-1/2 years ago.

ok, I pretty much have all of Makayla's room done. With the Christmas gift certificates from Dons parents for Christmas we were able to get material to make her curtains and bedding. I surprised myself on my sewing ability. Usually I start a project and never finish but I had a goal to get her room done so I could post it for all to see. I still would like to get a toy box, new drawer handles for her dresser, a table with two chairs and I still have to make a supply caddie for her crib. As I see it I think we still have at least six months of waiting so I still have time. Let me know on what you think of the room so far. Plus our cat angel wanted to be in the pictures, she loves to get her picture taken.. Since Don and I bought the crib we were a little worried that our two cats would not leave it along. However bob and Angel only got yelled at a couple of times when we first got the crib and they have not been in it since. The only time the cats go in the room is to sit by the heater vent or to look out the window, I think we got lucky and was blessed with really good cats. In Makayla's room, the curtains were made from Pink material with green poka dots, green material with pink poka dots, and blue material with green poka dots. The signs in her room says DIVA, GIGGLE, SMILE , DIVA IN TRAINING, Queen of everything, Princess, DREAM and oh course Don's favorite NO BOYS ALLOWED., all the signs have pink, purple, blue and green poka dots. I bought the signs first and then picked out the material. The rugs are pink and purple and one is all four colors, pink, purple, blue, and green. I am hoping to buy plain wooden round drawer pulls and paint them green with pink poka dots, but I still have time for that. Please sign our guest book and let us know what you think of makayla's Room. Dorrine

Aug 2008

We'll this month went by pretty quick, Last week we were on vacation in Branson Mo.. It was wonderful, the first vacation we took in 3 years. Our vacation started out with Driving to St. Louis on Friday, then on Saturday we went to the arch, on a riverboat cruise, and then to the zoo. Lots of walking on our first day. Then on Sunday we drove to Branson till Thursday. While in Branson we went to the Titanic museum, dinosaur Museum, go cats, toy museum, haunted house, 57 heaven car show, china acrobats, lots of shopping, and we even got our picture done in a hill billy antique pic. Then on Thursday we stopped in Springfield and went to bass pro shops, which is a great set up and tourist attraction in itself. We got home late Thursday night and the weekend we just visited with relatives that happened to come into town from Canada. It was hard having to go back to work.
